East Hill Foundation considers grant applications from qualified 501(c)(3) organizations, which address community needs and opportunities designed to enhance the quality of life of the residents of Western New York. Community giving is primarily focused within the eight counties of Western New York: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming County.

Grant Application for Western New York Grants:

The East Hill Foundation welcomes inquiries from nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations for grant funding for the Western New York area. The next Grant Application deadline date for organizations located in and serving the Western New York area is August 3, 2015. In response to the growing needs of WNY residents caused by the national economic downturn, East Hill Foundation would like to assist WNY nonprofit (501c3) organizations that address basic human services such as providing food and shelter for the needy.  All WNY 501c3 organizations are welcome to apply; however, the East Hill Board encourages projects that serve basic human needs.  A WNY Grant Application is available for download (see link below).  WNY Grants are available in amounts of $30,000 and under. Please contact Michele Schmidt at the East Hill Foundation Office for further information. East Hill Foundation strictly adheres to the application deadline dates. Grant Applications must be postmarked on or before the deadline date and sent via First Class Mail. Completed Grant Applications with all the required attachments are reviewed by the East Hill Foundation Board of Directors in October. The Foundation staff may request a site visit prior to the Board of Directors meeting. Organizations are notified in writing as to the Board of Directors’ determinations. East Hill Foundation is able to fund only a limited number of the requests received. Only one application per organization may be considered.  All organizations receiving a grant from the East Hill Foundation are required to sign a formal grant contract and complete a final grant report at the conclusion of the grant period. Family/Board Sponsored Grants:

The East Hill Foundation teaches philanthropy and stewardship to the founders’ family members by supporting their projects irrespective of where they live or where their interests lie. Family and Board members may sponsor projects for qualified 501(c)(3) organizations. Family and Board members generate their own grant opportunities, therefore, Family/Board Sponsored Grant Applications are provided by invitation only. Completed Grant Applications with all the required attachments are reviewed by the East Hill Foundation Board of Directors. The Foundation staff may request a site visit prior to the Board of Directors meeting. Organizations are notified in writing as to the Board of Directors’ determinations. All organizations receiving a grant from the East Hill Foundation are required to sign a formal grant contract and complete a final grant report at the conclusion of the grant period. Interim progress reports may also be required.

Limitations:

In general, East Hill Foundation support is not provided for ongoing operating expenses, endowment, technology, private education, scholarships, salaries, and travel expenses. Grants are not made to individuals, religious organizations for direct religious purposes or political groups. Only one Grant Application per organization may be considered per grant deadline date.

North Tonawanda Grants:

Due to the recent establishment of the Foundation offices in North Tonawanda, it has been decided to replicate a model used by the Foundation in other communities – that of focused funding. The East Hill Foundation welcomes inquiries from nonprofit, 501(c)(3), organizations located in and serving the City of North Tonawanda. The next Grant Application deadline date for North Tonawanda nonprofit organizations is April 2, 2015. Grants are available in amounts of $50,000 and under. Please contact the East Hill Foundation Office at 716-204-0204 ext. 206 for an North Tonawanda Grant Application and further information. To be eligible, nonprofit organizations must be headquarted in North Tonawanda and must serve the North Tonawanda area.  East Hill Foundation strictly adheres to the application deadline dates. Grant Applications must be postmarked on or before the deadline date and sent via First Class Mail. Completed Grant Applications with all the required attachments are reviewed by the North Tonawanda Grants Advisory Committee. A site visit may be requested prior to the meeting of the Advisory Committee. Once recommendations have been determined, the Board of East Hill Foundation will make the final decision. Organizations are notified in writing as to the Board of Directors’ determinations. East Hill Foundation is able to fund only a limited number of the requests received.  Only one application per organization may be considered.  All organizations receiving a grant from the East Hill Foundation are required to sign a formal grant contract and complete a final grant report at the conclusion of the grant period. Interim progress reports may also be required.
